Day 14 - Physical Therapy at ICC's Community Outreach Project
ICC’s Community Outreach Project gives parents of disabled children the tools and education they need to keep their families together. Through respite services, financial aid, counseling, and therapy, these community centers give parents a real alternative to abandonment.

For many of the families coming to us for help, severe disabilities mean many of these children can’t walk or possibly even talk. A donation to therapy can change that—providing the care and the tools needed to take their first steps, grasp objects, or speak for themselves. Your gift will help deliver physical and occupational therapies to children and young adults of various abilities.

This is our second focus on International China Concern as part of Forty Days. If you missed the first one, please be sure to read about it at Day 9. Honestly, I could blather on and on about the kind of organization this is and the work they do, but I really think it speaks for itself. One of the most significant barriers to birthparents being able to raise their special needs children at home is adequate support. These families need accurate information; they need someone who understands the problems they face and won't judge them for their fears. And they desperately need services such as physical and occupational therapy, which are nearly non-existent in many places. Community outreach programs are such a vital part of the orphan care mission...it is the one thing that has the power to turn this problem around. I hope and pray that hearts are opened as you consider the impact you will have when you partner with ICC to provide therapy to children and young adults. You are helping to change these children's lives but also the lives of their families, friends, and neighbors as they are a visible testimony to the hope that parents of Special Needs children can have. It is my privilege to help them in this small way, so here is today's challenge: Just 12 gifts of $125 will fund physical therapy for the Community Outreach program for one year. One Year! Please be one of the twelve.
