Day 2 - Bring Me Hope Camp Sponsorship
I can hear the voices so clearly in my mind: The volunteer counselors shout, "Bring Me!", and the kids respond at full volume, "HOPE!" Those wonderful words never cease to bring a smile to my face and to my heart.
For seven years Bring Me Hope has been bringing hope to children from orphanages throughout China. Children who are labeled "orphan", "special needs", "unadoptable", "aged out" or just "forgotten". For one week each summer these kids find themselves with new labels: "silly", "talented", "precious", "known" and "loved". How do I know? Because I have seen it for myself. I have seen (and heard) the excitement when summer approaches, and they find out which week will be their special time. I have seen the joy as they get off the bus at camp and find a few familiar faces of those who have COME BACK , who REMEMBER their names. I have been there as they draw and swim and laugh and laugh and laugh with eyes shining because this is the most fun they will have all year, and the joy and memories will keep them smiling for a long time to come.
Of course, you know that all this doesn't happen without people and funding. So today, I am asking you to consider sponsoring a child to go to camp. One child. One week. I know the saying that "money can't buy happiness", but I know for a fact that for one child, $125 can buy HOPE.
