I was shocked (okay not really) to find that I am not the only person who finds Lent to be a time of reflection, and particularly reflection on lifestyle, what it means to have enough and especially, what it means to really give. Not so surprisingly, many have written about this topic far more eloquently and persuasively than me. The links below will direct you to thought and hopefully action-provoking articles. I will add more as I find them throughout the next Forty Days.
Is Lent Relevant
Suffering Love (The *suffering* we experience by giving up some of our comforts can't really be compared to the suffering of Christ, but it's an interesting reflection)
Preparing for the Journey of Lent
The Care and Feeding of Lent
Convicted with a capital "C"
How to Make Room for Life's Biggest Questions
Mother Teresa's Secret to Joy
Give to Everyone Who Asks ( I love this one -- very gutsy!)
Change the Way You See (ok, I love this one, too)
Your Life Is Not About You (are you beginning to see a theme here??)
Pope Francis' Lenten Message (includes some thoughts on giving to the poor)
Lent: The Poverty of Choice (very action oriented, my kind of article!)
What We Carry When We Die (another good one from Fr. Robert Barron)
How Should the Resurrection Shape Our Everyday Lives? ("to wear this world much more lightly" -- I like that)
A Nice Overview of Key Lenten Themes
Rose King Music on FB (some good explanations of Lenten celebrations in worship and music to go along)
